Suspect in assassination try on Tan nabbed in Sulu

A SUSPECTED Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bomber was arrested after police intelligence operatives swooped down on his safehouse in a remote village in Sulu Wednesday afternoon, police reports said yesterday.

Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the arrested ASG bomber as Abner Salahil Tahil alias Abs.

The reports said Tahil was arrested by combined elements of the PNP Intelligence Group and Special Action Force (SAF) after swooping down on his lair in Brgy. Kasanyangan in Jolo, Sulu.

Reports said Tahil, reportedly the right-hand man of a former Sulu Councilor Cocoy Tulawie, is facing warrant of arrest for his involvement in the bombing of Sulu Capitol building last year.

Tulawie was also suspected to behind in a bomb attack at Zamboanga City Airport early this month. Both bombings were reported to be an assassination attempt against Sulu Governor Sakur Tan. Anthony Vargas
