Ariza holds seminar for Asiad athletes
STRENGTH and conditioning guru Alex Ariza shares his expertise as he set to facilitate nutrition and conditioning seminar for Filipino athletes bound for the 16th Asian Games slated Nov. 12-27 in Guangzhou, China.
Ariza will meet all Asiad athletes and coaches numbering to 230 on Oct. 10 at the Philippine Sports Commission auditorium in Philsports Complex in Pasig City.
The Philippine Team is in deep preparation for the quadrennial tournament.
Ariza is currently in the country to aid pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao’s training for his Nov. 13 bout against Antonio Margarito at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Monico Puentevella arranged the seminar in close coordination with Philippine Sports Commission under chairman Richie Garcia.
“This will be a big boost for the Philippine team,” said Puentevella. “I would like to thank my close friend Rep. Manny Pacquiao for making it possible for (Ariza) to help the delegation to the Asian Games.”
The Philippines is looking to improve its four gold, six silver and nine bronze medals in the 2006 Doha Asiad.
Some 250 Filipino athletes from 30 sports are close candidates for the Guangzhou Games.
