“Main celebration of Eid el-Fitr is done during the Eid itself. However, celebrations extend a few days after the end of Ramadhan. Likewise, in as much as most of the Muslims would be celebrating the same with their families, the dinner was scheduled some days thereafter in order not to intrude into the family Eid celebrations,” ang pahayag ni Lacierda.

“The law was enacted in deference to the Muslim Filipinos and to promote peace among major religions in the country.  Presidential  Decree 1083 in section 169 provides that eid’l fitr among others are legal Muslim holidays. The observance thereof was initially limited to Southern Philippines,” ang pahayag ni Lacierda.

Kris Jose
