HPG bust Mindanao’s organized carnap ring
THE Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) believes it has busted a highly-organized carnapping syndicate operating in northern Mindanao with the arrest of four suspects, including the alleged ringleader, and the confiscation of two stolen vehicles during the week.
In a report to PNP Director General Raul M Bacalzo, HPG director Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina said follow-up operations are underway to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover more stolen motor vehicles the group is believed to have sold to unsuspecting buyers in Mindanao.
Espina said Charlie Lim, alias Boyet Lim, owner of Pisces Insurance Agency, was arrested Thursday along Malvar St., Barangay Dagohoy, Butuan City while driving a Toyota Innova believed to be stolen.
A subsequent search of Lim’s office, ordered by Judge Emmanuel Escatron of
Butuan regional trial court Branch 2 and witnessed by the suspect and two
barangay officials, yielded blank forms and validation stickers of the Land
Transportation Office, and licenses plates.
Three suspected accomplices of Lim – Roldan Tion, Daisy Lim and Ruby
Claverol – who were in the office were taken into police custody.
The four underwent inquest proceedings on Friday for charges of violating the Anti-Carnapping Act and falsification of public documents. Anthony Vargas
