Lady Tams slam Lady Falcons
FAR Eastern University denied reigning champion Adamson of a chance to achieve two feats on the final day of hostilities in the 73rd UAAP women’s basketball tournament.
The Lady Tamaraws leaned on a buzzer-beating jumper by Karen Columna to score a stunning 60-58 win over the Lady Falcons at The Arena in San Juan.
With the game tied at 58-all, Marilou Borja dished the ball to Columna, who hit the game-winning basket.
The win enabled the Morayta-based cagebelles to forge a tie with the Lady Falcons for the lead with identical 13-1 slates. But FEU will secure the top spot in the Final Four due to a superior quotient.
Adamson defeated FEU, 62-61, in their first meeting of the season. But the stunning loss in their return match brought the Lady Falcons down to No. 2 spot.
Allana Lim led the Lady Tamaraws with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Raiza Palmera added 16 points and seven boards.
Borja posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards along with three assists.
FEU is eager to reclaim the title this year. The Lady Tamaraws will take on fourth-seeded La Salle Lady Archers in the semifinals slated Saturday at The Arena in San Juan. Adamson battles No. 3 University of Santo Tomas in the other pairing.
