8: 30 p.m. – MLQU vs. Wang’s
MANUEL Luis Quezon University seeks its third straight win when it takes on defending champion Wang’s Ballclub even as Rizal Technological University makes its debut against Star Group of Publications in the 2010 MBL Invitational basketball championship at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong City.
Game time starts at 7 p.m.
Handled by coach Sherman Crisostomo and manager Maria Victoria Chan, the Stallions swept their first two assignments against Lyceum of the Philippines (73-72) and Star Group (80-78) to take the headstart in this two-month tournament supported by Smart Communications, Dickies Underwear and PRC Managerial Services.
Jopher Custodio, the hero in MLQU’s back-to-back victories, will lead the Stallions’ bid for their third straight win and outright solo lead.
Wang’s, which debuted with an 82-72 win over Philippine Air Force, will rely on veterans Biboy Simon, Jonathan Aldave, Mario Reyes, Ryan Regalado and American missionary Joshua Manthe.
Wang’s, however, will miss the services of Fil-Am Anthony Cuevas, who was slapped with a three-game suspension and fine of P5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct during the game against Air Force.
RTU president Dr. Jose Q. Macaballug has been invited to toss the ball during the Star-RTU game. He will be assisted by MBL chairman Alex Wang, tournament director Albert Andaya and MBL commissioner Ato Tolentino.Radito Torres
