OFW who gave birth to triplets seeks help
AN UNDOCUMENTED overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who gave birth to a triplet in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in December 2009 has been seeking financial assistance for her hospital bills and other expenses.
Eric Jocson, chairperson of the Kapatiran sa Gitnang Silangan (KGS), has informed Migrante-Middle East regional coordinator John Leonard Monterona about the situation of Jessica Mayo, 30.
Jocson said Mayo, who hails from La Union province, has been hesitant to ask for assistance from the group because she was afraid she would be repatriated because of her being undocumented.
“She has an outstanding hospitalization bill and incurred expenses, thus, she is now seeking assistance from us,” Monterona said.
“Given her situation of having a triplets babies to feed and support, our Migrante leaders in Riyadh will do something that could be of help to her,” he added.
Mayo was deployed in Saudi Arabia sometime in 2006. After a year of working as a domestic helper, she escaped from her abusive employer and became then an undocumented.
“We will endorse her case to the attention of the concerned RP post through its assistance to the nationals section (ANS) so that she and her children will be repatriated soon after we could raise the amount needed for payment of her hospitalization bill and other incurred expenses,” Monterona said.
