‘Corrupt’ poll officer hurt in Lanao ambush
THE ambush of a municipal election officer yesterday may have been masterminded by those who have had enough of his anomalies, police and military reports said.
Town election executive Pangalian “Peping” Lumabao, who was allegedly the target of the attack sustained six gunshot wounds in the body.
Lumabao allegedly has been “asking P300 filing fee from candidates for barangay captains (in Tangkal town), which is supposed to be free.”
Also, the victim allegedly “was accepting voter registrants from Lanao del Sur.”
The two wounded companions of the election officer were Timbang Batingolo and Abdulla Cautangan.
The three were on their way to Tangkal town on board a vehicle when they were fired upon by unknown assailants.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo said the attack occurred along the boundaries of Kolambugan and Tangkal towns, both in the province of Lanao del Norte.
