‘Unseen forces’ using ‘jueteng’ expose to destabilize PNoy govt
“UNSEEN forces are taking a free ride on the expose of retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz on illegal gambling, particularly against the illegal numbers game of “jueteng,” a former whistle-blower said yesterday.
Former jueteng whistleblower Richard Garcia said the former bishop of Lingayen-Dagupan is bing used to destabilize the 100-day-old Aquino Administration.
“Someone is manipulating this (jueteng issue) to destablize the government,” Garcia disclosed during a press conference in Quezon City.
Garcia appealed to those behind this efforts to give the Aquino administration a chance to prove itself.
“Give this administration a chance… Nagsisimula pa lang ay ginugulo na,” he said.
Garcia was among those who exposed the alleged involvement of ranking government and police officials in the illegal numbers game during a Senate inquiry in 2005.
The other prominent whistleblowers were Sandra Cam and the late Wilfred “Boy” Mayor.
“Hindi ko makita kung sino ang nasa likod ni Archbishop Cruz– ang simbahan ba o politiko,” Garcia said.
He, however, he declined to name names, saying that he will reveal all of this in a proper forum.
Garcia said the government can put a stop to ‘jueteng’ only if officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) would implement the regulations governing small town lottery (STL).
Garcia added that that President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III should appoint people at the PCSO who have deep knowledge of jueteng.
“My point here is dapat matigil na ang gulo na dulot ng jueteng na ito at marami na talaga ang nadadamay,” Garcia said.
Cruz, during a Senate committee hearing on illegal-gambling late last month, came out with a list of supposed persons who are either operating illegal gambling or ultimate recipients of jueteng payola. Anthony Vargas
