Armed group in Rizal led by a MNLF rebel returnee
POLICE authorities in Rizal province yesterday identified a partisan armed group (PAG) operating in the province a day before the holding of nationwide village and youth council elections.
Rizal police chief Senior Supt. Manuel Cesar Prieto identified the Cabib Group as the lone armed group operating in the province and based in Rodriguez town.
Prieto said the group’s leader and members have been positively identified.
The alleged leader was named as a certain Cabib Tagumay, a Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebel returnee.
Tagumay is said to be the bodyguard of former Rodriguez Mayor Pedro Cuerpo.
Prieto also identified the other members as Datu Karnaen Acon Alex Barawco, Ano Tagumay, a certain Bafie. Olo, the son of Tagumay, was allegedly also a member.
His report said Acon is facing double murder and frustrated homicide charges in connection with the killing of a Ricardo Amata, a retired police inspector and SPO3 Danilo Zuniga.
Both Amata and Zuniga were formerly connected to the Rodriguez police station.
The reports added that the Cabib group was organized in support for the candidacy of Cuerpo, who lost his gubernatorial bid last May 10 during a national poll. Anthony Vargas
