Bukidnon landslide kills mother, four of her children
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—A family of five, including four children, were killed when a landslide hit and covered their house during a heavy downpour in an interior barangay in Sumilao, Bukidnon before nightfall Monday, the military reported yesterday.
At present, rescuers are still trying to recover the missing body of the mother, identified as Pilar Lindongan, 33, said Lt. Col. Jose Gille, spokesperson of the Army’s 403 Infantry Brigade based in Camp Osito Bahian in Malaybalay City.
Gille identified the four other fatalities as: Floriano, 11; Aileen, 7; Balado, 4; and Jenmark, 2.
The children’s dead bodies were recovered by relatives hours after the landslide.
He said residents of Sitio Lumloyao, Barangay Lupiagan in Sumilao town reported the incident to authorities. “It was raining hard when the landslide occurred,” he said. Bong D. Fabe
