Fake motor oil seized
MORE than 2,000 containers of motor oil worth more than P1 million were seized by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during a series of raids on seven establishments in Manila and Pasay City.
A report reaching the office of NBI Director Magtanggol Gatdula said raided were: the establishments located on 622 V. Tytana St. (formerly Oriente St.), Binondo, Manila; Malibay Auto Supply and Hi Quartz Auto Parts Center on 805 E. de los Santos Ave., Pasay City; Green Accordion Steel Door; and Lawton Auto Supply Inc. located at 1056 Pedro Gil St., Paco, Manila.
Reports revealed that the raids were conducted following the complaint filed by Castrol Limited/Taw and Associates regarding the alleged rampant unauthorized sale of motor oil in the said places.
The raids were conducted by operatives of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division by virtue of search warrants issued by Judge Amor Reyes of the Manila Regional Trial Court branch 21.
A total of 1,837 one-liter containers and 722 four-liter containers of lubricant oil bearing trademarks of Castrol Limited were seized during the operations.
The items are worth P1,041,072.00 in the market, the bureau reported.
The oil was stored in S-Storage Inc., located at 1833 Paz Guazon St. , Paco, Manila, for safekeeping.
The owners and operators of the establishments are facing charges for violation of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act 8293. Jing Villamente
