Pinoy crown Poomsae King
UZBEKISTAN — Its’ the RP men’s team turn to shine in Poomsae.
The Philippines’ men’s trio of Jean Pierre, Anthony Matias and Brian Alan Sabido put the country back to limelight, clinching title in the recently-concluded 5th World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Tashkent here.
Showing notable synchronization and precision in their routine, the Filipino annex the crown in the men’s 1st team category in the prestigious annual tournament.
Bu their counterparts, the reigning women’s champion, failed in their bid to defend the crown.
Rani Ann Ortega, Francesca Camille Alarilla and Ma. Carla Janice Lagman, who took the limelight last year in Cairo, Egypt, failed to advance even to the finals round.
The Pinoy bets edged Germans Adrian Wassmuth, Roger Kesternich and Patrick Bogush while Iranians Alinadali Najafabadi, Milad Yaghoubi, and Akbar Forouzan and Chinese Zhu Yuxiang, Li Jingyu, and Zhan Wenpeng wound up with bronze.
Vietnamese Tuyet Van Chau and Thi Thu Ngan Nguyen, holdovers of last year’s runner up squad, combined efforts with Thi Huynh Mai Duong to rule the 1st women’s category.
Settling for silver were Nastaran Maleki Aderani, Mahsh Mardani and Golsoum Mollamadadkhani of Iran. The bronze went to China’s Zhu Mengxue, Li Wen and Xia Yu, and Germany’s Claudia Beaujean, Isabel Dormann and Nicole Ketteniss.
