Wang’s stakes clean slate

DEFENDING  champion  Wang’s  Ballclub stakes its hold on  the solo lead  when  it takes  on  unpredictable  Hobe  Bihon  even as Star Group  of Publications takes on Lyceum of the Philippines in  the 2010  MBL  Invitational  (Second  Conference)  basketball championship  at the  Lyceum gym in  Intramuros,  Manila.

Wang’s, which  swept  its first  two  assignments, and  Hobe, which  won  its  debut, will  take the  floor  at  8:30 p.m

The Pablo Lucas-mentored  Wang’s  served  notice of its tite-retention bid by beating Philippine Air  Force, 82-72, last Sept. 21 and  CUSA  titlist  Manuel Luis Quezon  University, 100-95, last Sept. 28

Star  Group  and  Lyce um  clash  in  the  7 p.m.curtainraiser  in this  two-and-a-half  month  long  tournament supported  by  Smart  Communications,  Dickies  Underwear and  PRC  Managerial Services.

Star,  which  holds a  2-1 win-loss  record  in  a  tie  with  MLQU,  will have its hands full  against  newly-crowned  ISSA champion Lyceum.

Handled  by  coach Rene Recto and  manager Mike Maneze,  Star  won over  EJM  (62-58 ) and Rizal Technological University  (100-92),  but lost  to MLQU (78-80).

Lyceum, whch  is being handled  by coach Bonnie Tan and supported  by  athletics consultant  Hec  Callanta,  is  fresh from an 82-76  win  over  Royale Business Club.
