WARRIORS OF HEAVEN NI MARLENE AGUILAR IPINADALA KINA OBAMA, GATES AT OPRAH
FAMED ARTIST Marlene Aguilar, sister of Filipino folk singer Freddie Aguilar and mother of Filipino cult phenomenon Jason Ivler, recently sent an early Christmas present to two United States political figures and one international TV host sensation.
When asked why she sent her autobiography entitled Warriors of Heaven to United States President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and legendary international TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey, Marlene states “she wanted them to know what’s really going on in the Philippines and the struggles her Filipino people have had to endure in the face of adversities.”
Marlene also notes, that “President Barack Obama is an avid reader, and a very well known author himself”.
“It would be good for him to read a book that will awaken him and open his mind to how the Philippines really is.” That was also noted by former Presidential Adviser of H.E. Fidel V. Ramos Dr. Serafin Talisayon citing Warriors of Heaven, “This book will awaken the Philippines.” Marlene Aguilar blushes when she mentions US Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ name. She doesn’t hold back in saying that she has a “crush on him”. Moreover, she hopes that he would visit the Philippines, and that he would be open to sitting down with her to discuss her book.
Unaware of any international authors or publishers being mentioned on the Oprah Winfrey Book Club, Marlene hopes that Oprah will endorse her book to her millions of viewers from all walks of life. This would bring awareness of the true struggles of the common people of the Philippines. Marlene hesitates to give out too much information of Warriors of Heaven, as she notes “it is something each individual should read to form their own views and opinions”.
Conscious that the majority of her Filipino people still live in poverty, Aguilar published Warriors of Heaven on the internet so anyone can read it for free. Aguilar hopes that after reading her book, the United States government and their political leaders will have a better understanding of the Filipino people and her nation. In addition, she hopes that the US and its leaders will work harder to improve the living conditions of her people. Charlie Lozo
