9 suspects in PETC scam arrested
NINE persons behind the falsification of smoke emission testing results of motor vehicles were nabbed in a raid of their safehouse in Caloocan City over the weekend by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The raid was conducted Friday afternoon at the corner of Asistio St. and 10th Ave., Caloocan City by operatives of the NBI-Environment and Wildlife Protection Division by virtue of a search warrant issued by the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
The alleged illegal private emission testing center (PETC) is operated by Ed Rivera, owner of two registered emission testing centers Smoke in the City and Enviroguard.
Some 11 desktop computers and other gadgets used in their illegal operations that allow the non-appearance of motor vehicles in the issuance of certificate of environmental compliance (CEC) were seized during the operation.
