Pagadian businessman’s wife, grandson abducted
FOUR unidentified gunmen abducted last Sunday the wife and a grandson of an owner of a construction firm in Pagadian City, it was reported yesterday.
Camp Aguinaldo said the victims were identified as 55-year-old Babeth Gomonit and her ten-year-old grandson Ceekim Gomonit.
Maj. Gen. Romeo Lustestica, commander of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said in the report that the suspects barged inside the victims’ home at around 10 a.m. Sunday in Brgy. San Jose, Pagadian City.
The suspects, using ropes and masking tapes, hogtied members of the Gomonit’s household before forcing the victims inside a blue Isuzu Trooper (KBG 711) owned by the victims and sped towards Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.
The said vehicle was later found abandoned in the vicinity of Brgy. Sugod, Takuran town in Zamboanga del Sur by elements of the Pagadian City police office that were sent to track down the victims and their abductors.
The motive behind the abduction remains unknown, as police and military intelligence operatives are still investigating and gathering information to the identities of the suspects, the army official said.
“As of today, there are still no ransom demands nor communications coming from those behind the abduction,” Lustestica said.
He said Babeth’s husband, engineer Daniel Gominit is engaged in construction business. Anthony Vargas
