Police officer relieved after attack on city dad
A DETACHMENT commander of the Pasig City police office was relieved yesterday, a day after motorcycle-riding shot a city councilor last Wednesday.
The city official survived the attack but was wounded in the process.
Senior Insp. Samson Regala, the chief the Pasig City Police Community Precinct (PCP) 7, is the first casualty of the one-strike policy against riding-in-tandem crime being implemented by the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO).
NCRPO director Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome said Regala was relieved for failing to prevent the crime that left Councilor Roberto Benito hurt.
“On the first instance of any riding in-tandem-related crimes, the police community precinct commander will be administratively relieved, Bartolome said. “On second instance, the station commander will be relieved.”
The one-strike policy on riding-in-tandem-crime was implemented by the NCRPO early this month following the deployment of the Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (MASCOs) aimed to curb more street crimes.
Regala was recalled to the Pasig City Police Office and was replaced by Insp. Dwight Ong
