Rookie cop dismissed for rape
A ROOKIE policeman from San Juan was dismissed yesterday following the accusation that he raped a South African therapist inside a San Juan police station late last month.
Previously, PO1 Melardo Abang was relieved from his post and confined to his quarters at the same station while waiting for the start of the dismissal proceedings.
Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome, director of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO), said Abang was charged with conduct unbecoming of a police officer, among other criminal raps.
Abang was positively identified by the vitim as the one who raped her.
“The victim’s identification of him (Abang) as the one who raped her is enough to relieve him from work,” Bartolome said. Anthony Vargas
