AFP dares NPA: Show proof Ka Roger is alive
THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) yesterday dared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) to show proof that its spokesman, Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal, is still alive.
The challenge was issued by the military after the CPP leadership and a relative of the communist rebel spokesman rebuffs military’s earlier claim that Batangas-born Rosal may have already been dead.
“So it is now up to the leadership of the CPP-NPA and the National Democratic Front (NDF) to produce and to show proof that he (Rosal) is still alive,” AFP spokesman Brig. Gen. Jose Mabanta said.
Despite the denial of CPP and Rosal’s relative, Mabanta maintained that Rosal died of illness, if the intelligence information he received was true.
“As far as the data that we have been receiving, it is true that he (Rosal) have died because of medical reason,” Mabanta said. “The last time that he came out was on October 2008, so that’s more than two years.”
The AFP spokesman added: “If it’s true that he [Rosal] is still alive, then it would be better, he can come and approach us and we will help him in his medication. I know he’s having problem because of that.”
