Euphoric Government Workers
LUCKY are those who are aplenty in this money-spending season and much luckier as they’re euphoric these days are nearly 4, 000 Caloocan City government workers who have been assured of additional Christmas benefits which they call 14th month pay and another P2, 000 in productivity bonus.
This makes them the envy of other local government employees, well, except maybe in Manila, Quezon City and Makati where they similarly get extra bonuses to the rejoice of their families that’ll surely enjoy the Yuletide season with gifts and scrumptious food for Noche Buena and Media Noche.
Caloocan City Administrator Russel Ramirez says it’s Mayor Recom Echiverri’s way of returning to the city hall workers the favor through these Christmas packages amounting to nearly P40-million for giving their unselfish time and efforts that hugely help in pushing his administration’s reforms programs.
Upon Recom’s prodding and since the city coffers have extra savings, the Sangguniang Panlunsod through an appropriation measure authored by 1st District Councilor Susan Punzalan approved the release of the funds which the ecstatic workers are expected to get within the week, Ramirez says.
“My beloved workers in Caloocan City, I have approved the release of the 14th month pay and additional P2,000 productivity bonus to all regular employees as well as P3,500 for all job orders,” Recom tells the employees as he directs all concerned department heads to facilitate the release of the additional Christmas bonus for their respective employees.
He reiterates that his move is his way to help relieve the burden on the city’s workers especially since poverty is still very much around. “These Christmas ‘presents’ is my assistance to your family. This has been my long-time dream for you. May these make your Christmas happier!”
Ramirez says the city government would never hold back the benefits that are rightfully deserved by the city hall workers – 1, 679 regular and 2, 800 JOs – since this is one way of rewarding them for all their hard work that redounds to the interest of the city folks who have been enjoying superb services from them.
Peaceful “Simbang Gabi” in Calabarzon
CALABARZON Police Director Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr. is one of few good men I know. He’s been working hard and he never complains wherever he is assigned to though I believe he would have been more effective if he’s in Metro Manila but he wouldn’t mind it.
As “Simbang Gabi” starts, “General Pagdi” orders a full-blast implementation of the police’s public safety and security coverage as he directs all provincial directors and cities and municipal police chiefs to intensify their respective police visibility and patrol operations especially at the vicinities of churches in anticipation of the upsurge of church goers and motorists who will attend the “Misa De Gallo” in order to prevent them from falling victims to criminals.
He makes sure that all police commanders in Southern Tagalog region are coordinating closely with their respective local government units, private security agencies and managers of banks and business establishments including theme parks to ensure an effective implementation of their anti-criminality drive and related public safety services. “General Pagdi” never gets tired.
