Fleeing bombing suspect killed in Zambo
AUTHORITIES shot and killed a bombing suspect after the latter and three other prisoners escaped from a detention cell in Zambonga City early Saturday, December 25.
Sr. Supt. Mario Rariza Jr., director of the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Region 9, said police gunned down Solaiman Muin after he refused to surrender when cornered by lawmen at the city’s Camp General Eduardo Batalla.
Muin is believed to be involved in the May 13, 2009 bomb attack on the convoy of Sulu governor Abdusakur Tan in Patikul, Sulu.
One of Muin’s companions was recaptured while the two others remain at large and are being tracked down.
Rariza called for an investigation on why the two guards on duty failed to see the fleeing detainees.
