PNoy may get married near term’s end
AFTER a senior Catholic archbishop told the President to take his time in choosing his next girlfriend, Malacañang hinted on Sunday that President Benigno Aquino III may not get married until at least near the end of his six-year term in 2016.
Deputy presidential spokeswoman Abigail Valte, commenting on Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal’s advice to Aquino not to hurry in choosing a girlfriend, said Aquino has never been in a hurry in his love life since he prioritizes governance for now.
“Hindi naman nagmamadali ang Pangulong Aquino. Tingnan natin kung ano ang mangyayari sa darating na panahon. Halata naman pong di nagmamadali si Pangulong Aquino,” Valte said in a radio interview.
She said Aquino had already mentioned he wants to concentrate on governance, and that having a spouse might even be a distraction.
“Nabanggit ni Pangulong Aquino dati, gusto niya mag-concentrate sa bayan at iniisip niya kung sakali siya magkaroon ng kabiyak habang siya ay pangulo, baka mabigyan ng burden. Gusto niya mag-concentrate muna siya at tumutok sa kailangan natin resolbahin,” she said.
Cardinal Vidal earlier gave Aquino an unsolicited advice on his love life by urging the President not to hurry in choosing a girlfriend.
Aquino had been reportedly dating some women after his breakup with Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad. He had been linked with stylist Liz Uy and stockbroker Len Lopez.
“He has to choose well … di siya magdali-dali,” Cardinal Vidal was quoted as saying.
When asked if Aquino may not get a bride until 2016, Valte said: “Hintayin na lang natin.” Julian Labores
