CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—The 11-year-old girl who was kidnapped in Iligan City Thursday morning was rescued by the 64th Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division on the same day, a radio report reaching this city said Friday.
The successful rescue of Fatima Angni one hour before noon Thursday along the national highway in Barangay Kalanganan, Pantar, Lanao del Sur was attributed to the accurate and timely information received by the military, said 2Lt. Mayleen Sagadraca of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, based in Kampo Ranao in the Islamic City of Marawi, Lanao del Sur.
Sagadraca identified Angni’s kidnappers as Camil Esmael, Macoy Panguntara and Junior Panda, all residents of Barangay Bualan, Balindong, Lanao del Sur.
The kidnappers were allegedly relatives of the victim.
Angni was kidnapped at the restaurant owned by her sister, Rasmia Angni.
Her brother-in-law immediately reported the incident to the 43rd Infantry Battalion, Sagadraca said.
Upon receiving the report, government troops immediately set up checkpoints along the national highway from Pantar town to Marawi City.
Sagadraca said the Pantar Municipal Police also extended its help, which resulted to the interception of the get-away vehicle bearing plate number ULE 997. Albus D. Estabas
