2 DMPI guards killed, 2 others injured in ambush
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Two security guards of the giant food company Del Monte Philippines, Inc. (DMPI) were killed in an early morning ambush in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon on Tuesday, sketchy police report said Wednesday.
Two other DMPI security guards were injured in the ambush that occurred past 7 a.m.
Senior Supt. Nerio Bermudo, director of the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office (BPPO), identified the fatalities as Tito Yecyec and Ronelo Madrid.
They were on board a passenger jeepney for Barangay Dalwangan when at least 10 armed men opened fire on them in the vicinity of Barangay Kapitan Bayong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
They died on the spot while Marvin Sigura and Antonio Alambante were injured.
Bermudo said that after the shooting, the gunmen went to the jeepney and snatched the guards’ firearms which included two M-16 rifles, a .38 revolver and a shotgun.
