GM So babalik sa Netherlands chess tilt

MULING masisilayan si Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley Barbosa So sa 64 square board sa paglahok sa Tata Steel Chess formerly known Corus International Chess sa January 14 hanggang 31 sa De Moriaan Community Centresa Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

“I hope to earn ELO rating points in Netherlands chess tourney,” sabi ni So, world’s junior ranked no.3 na may Elo Fide rating 2673.

Ang No. 64 chess player sa world, ayon sa January 1 (World Chess Federation) FIDE quarterly ratings, ay tampok sa much-stronger category-17 Group B kung saan ang average rating ay ELO 2657.

“I know most of the players in Group B. They are all good and talented,” ani So, kampeon sa Group C two years ago sa 13-round total 9.5 points mula 7 wins, 5 draws at 1 loss.

Kumpiyansa naman si long-time chess patron Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr., main backer ni So, ang President/ Chairman ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) na magbibigay ng magandang laban ang Filipino whiz kid sa tough annual event.
