Kontrobersyal na RH Bill pagdedebatehan sa plenaryo

ININDORSO na ng House committee on population and family relations  para pagdebatehan sa plenaryo ang kontrobersyal na Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.

Inaprubahan ng komite ang pinag-isang panukala para sa pagkakaroon ng “accessible, affordable and effective reproductive health care services and promote all modern natural and artificial methods of family planning that are medically, safe, legal and effective without bias.” Kasabay nito ang paglilinaw na walang probisyon sa panukala na nagsusulong sa aborsyon o pagpapalaglag ng sanggol na siyang kinatatakutan umano ng mga kritiko nito.

“While this act recognized that abortion is illegal and punishable by law, the government shall ensure that all women needing care for post-abortion complications shall be treated and counseled in a human, non-judgmental and compassionate manner,” nakasaad pa sa panukala.

Si House Minority Leader Edcel Lagman ang pangunahing may-akda sa House Bill No. 96 o  “An Act Providing for a National Policy on Reproductive Health, Responsible Parenthood and Population and Development.”

Ginawa ang pag-indorso  sa hearing ng komite sa kabila ng mahigpit na pagtutol ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Tinangka ni Deputy Speaker at Cebu Rep. Pablo Garcia na harangin ang pag-endorso subalit  maagap itong napigilan nina Davao del Sur Marc Douglas Cagas at Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin .

“These bills were basically re-filed and extensive debates have conducted already. Ang sa akin lang uulitin pa rin naman ang debate sa plenary,” sinabi ni Cagas. – Meliza Maluntag
