“I highly condemn the violence that took place, particularly the protesters’ use of ice pick, pillbox, rifle grenade, Molotov, Indian “pana”, bolos and “sumpak” that hurt a municipal official, policemen, demolition crew and some of the residents,” ayon kay Ejercito.

“Before we carried out the demolition, we notified the informal settlers of Brgy. Corazon de Jesus when the demolition will happen so that they could vacate the area peacefully. We also assured them of a decent housing project. In fact, the City of San Juan is one of the few local government units that have ambitious housing projects for its informal settlers. Ours will be a rare kind because we will be establishing for them medium high-rise condominiums,” paliwanag ng batang kongresista.

“We hope to resolve the issue of informal settlers in the City of San Juan in the next 10 years. Housing will be the centerpiece program of my mother, Mayor Guia Gomez. Besides it has been a long time already that we are planning to have a government center that will be open for the people since the stewardship o  of my father, President Joseph Estrada,” sinabi pa ni Ejercito.

Meliza Maluntag
