PDEA-10 trainee falls dead in training
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 30-year-old trainee of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10) fell dead while undergoing a rigorous training exercise on Monday at the Pelaez Sports Complex here.
PDEA-10 director, Lt. Col. (retired) Edwin Layese, identified the victim as Reynante Villanueva, single and resident of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
According to Layese, Villanueva suddenly collapsed while doing exercise under the searing heat of the sun.
Villanueva was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center where he was declared dead-on-arrival.
Layese said he has already informed the national headquarters of PDEA to help defray the cost of burial for the victim.
Villanueva was among the 968 nationwide who passed the examination for Drug Enforcement Officers (DEO) last December.
Meanwhile, the PDEA-10 arrested three drug pushers during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 31 on Tuesday morning.
