The U.S. dollar fell against major currencies in late New York trading on Friday as investors ended their trading on the last trading day of 2010.
The euro rose 1 percent to 1.3394 against the dollar, extending its recovery from a 2010 low beneath 1.19, the lowest since early 2006.

For the year, the dollar was up about 1.4 percent against a basket of currencies, though it was lower Friday after hitting a seven-week low against the yen and a record low against the Swiss franc.
