CDO mayor appeals for help for release of kidnap victims
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY— Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano appealed for help on Wednesday for the successful recovery of a townsmate in Misamis Oriental who was kidnapped during the weekend in neighboring Marawi City.
Emano said that 18-year-old Aubrey Vertudez, a third-year information technology student of the Mindanao State University (MSU), was kidnapped by armed men inside the MSU campus last Saturday along with Chris Anthony Gulfan, 24, faculty member of the Al-Kwarizmi International College.
Emano and Vertudez both hail from Tagoloan, while Gulfan is from Pagadian City.
“I am exhausting all means to contact friends in Piagapo (Lanao del Sur) who can help us solve the kidnapping case,” he said.
Referring to the Vertudez family, he said: “They have been living in Tagoloan for a long time already and they are a poor family. That is why I am asking the public for help.”
He also appealed to kidnappers to release the victims, saying they are innocent.
Vertudez and Gulfan were reportedly walking towards the Macarambon’s Cottage on 7th Street inside the MSU campus when a group of armed men seized them and forced them onboard a maroon Hi-Lander SUV that sped towards the municipality of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur. Albus D. Estabas
