2 cops killed, 5 wounded in NPA ambush

TWO police officers were killed while five others were wounded in an ambush staged by the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in a remote village in Bukidnon shortly before noontime Sunday, March 6.

Reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame, the police headquarters in Manila, said the ambush incident took place at around 11:15 am at Sitio Bindolan, Brgy. Magsaysay in Malaybalay City.

Killed were PO1’s Ronel Bayta and Jaime Natil, both are said to be members of the Malaybalay City police office, while wounded were PO3’s Joumar Cahig, Glen Pamisa and Zandrex Llindo and PO1’s Angelo Linaban and Xerxes Bon Palasol.

The reports said the policemen, on board a patrol truck, were on their way to respond to a killing of a former village official of Brgy. Magsaysay when they were waylaid by a group of about 30 heavily armed
NPA rebels.

The joint elements of the Bukidnon Provincial Police office and 10th Regional Public Safety Battalion are now conducting pursuit operations against the group of rebels. Anthony Vargas
