3 OFWs na binitay sa China biktima ng lipunan – Pnoy

PINANINDIGAN ni  Pangulong Benigno “PNoy” Aquino, III na biktima lamang ng pagkakataon ang tatlong Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na binitay sa China Miyerkules, Marso 30.

Sa kalatas na ipinalabas ng Punong Ehekutibo, sinabi nito na bagama’t nadiin sina Ramon Credo, Sally Ordinario, at Elizabeth Batain sa drug trafficking ay maikukunsidera pa rin ang mga ito na biktima ng lipunan ng China dahil  hindi sila nabigyan ng tamang hanapbuhay sa Pilipinas.

Nauna rito, nagpahayag naman ng pakikidalamhati ang Pangulo sa mga naiwang pamilya ng tatlong binitay na OFWs.

Muli ay sinabi ng Chief Executive na nakiusap sila sa Chinese government na i-commute ang death sentence at gawing habambuhay na pagkabilanggo lamang ang ihatol sa tatlo.

“Unfortunately, the Chinese government did not agree, and we must respect their legal processes. I ask the public not to allow this situation to affect our historic friendship with the Chinese people,” aniya pa rin.

Inatasan naman ng Pangulo ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na bigyan ng education at livelihood assistance ang pamilya ng tatlong OFWs.

Aminado ang Pangulo na malaking problema ang usaping ito.

“These people are not the only people that have suffered this fate. All over the world, particularly in the Middle East, there are other Filipinos languishing in jails. Our ultimate goal is to create a situation where people are not pressured to resort to these things, where they can find enough gainful employment in the Philippines. Let us remain steadfast and focused on this goal, for it is the ultimate means to bringing a better life for all.” Kris Jose
