AFP chief of staff visits Philippine Army
THE men and women of the Philippine Army welcomed the new Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eduardo SL Oban, Jr. as he visited for the first time the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Thursday morning, March 17.
Among the highlights of Oban’s visit were the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers (TUKS) at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LNMB), visit to the wounded soldiers confined at the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital, an open forum with the Army soldiers and a command briefing at the Headquarters Philippine Army (HPA) Conference Room.
In his talk with the Army personnel, Oban emphasized the importance of strengthening the soldiers’ integrity for them to effectively carry out their mandate. He likewise underlined the value of leadership, the commitment of every enlisted personnel and the professionalism of the civilian employees that comprised the AFP organization.
Oban also puts premium on the effective implementation of the IPSP Bayanihan. He said, this would allow the organization to actively support the peaceful resolution of conflict and the attainment of sustained development.
Also of paramount consideration under Oban’s leadership is the immediate implementation of President Benigno Aquino’s flagship housing project starting with the initial 10,000 units intended for AFP personnel. Verlin Ruiz
