Apple IPad2 supply to be affected
THE supply of the recently launch Apple Ipad2 will be greatly affected due to the earthquake and tsunami that hits Japan, a report indicated. Some of the parts of the IPAD2 are manufactured by Japanese companies. The battery and the flash memory used to store music and videos are among being listed by HIS iSuppli as being much needed by the company.
The stock of the battery for IPAD2 is “unusually thin” which is being manufactured by Apple Japan. Toshiba Corporation is the one producing the NAND flash memory. Some companies in Japan temporarily halt their operations because their facilities and personnel were affected by the disaster. It also helps the government conserve energy which is badly needed by the nuclear power plants which will produce catastrophic effect if a nuclear meltdown happens.”Logistical disruptions may mean that Apple could have difficulties obtaining this battery, and it may not be able to secure supply from an external, non-Japanese source,” the report said.-Marjorie Dacoro
