PMA instructor shot dead in ambush— PNP
AN AIR force officer who served as an instructor at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) was killed after he was ambushed by a lone gunman late Thursday afternoon in Baguio City, police reported Friday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the victim as Lt. Col. Ferdinand Macasaet, 43, an instructor of the PMA’s air warfare department.
Reports said Macasaet was driving a Mitsubishi Montero van inside the Pinesville Subdivision a few blocks away from Fort del Pilar when he was attacked by a bonnet-wearing man at around 5 p.m. Thursday.
The military instructor died from multiple gunshot wounds while he was being rushed to the PMA Station Hospital by several bystanders who saw the incident.
The victim belonged to PMA Class ‘89, according to military chief information officer Lt. Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr.
The Baguio City police office has started conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the gunman and the motive for the shooting. Anthony Vargas
