1 soldier killed, 2 others wounded in Abra encounter
ONE army trooper was killed while two others were wounded in an encounter with alleged leftist rebels in a remote upland village in Abra on Monday, April 4.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo, the military general headquarters in Manila, said that the encounter took place in Barangay Kili in Tubo town at the said province.
The troops from the Army’s 5th Infantry Division were conducting a combat patrol operation at the said village when it chanced upon a group of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels.
The casualty was identified as Pfc Arnel Daracan while wounded were Pfc’s Jomar Ignacio and Brendon Bugya. The two were airlifted to a military hospital in Isabela. Anthony Vargas
