6 nabbed in Las Piñas for carrying guns, grenades
AUTHORITIES arrested six men, seizing from them several firearms and grenades, at a police checkpoint in Las Piñas City late Sunday evening, police reports said Monday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame’s operations center said that the arrested six-armed men arrested on board unlicensed red colored Toyota Innova van in Las Pinas City were led by a certain Daniel Carandang.
The reports said the suspects were flagged down at around 11 p.m. by elements of the Southern Police District (SPD) and Special Weapons and Tactics team at a checkpoint on Real St., Alabang-Zapote Road, Talon 2.
When inspected, police found inside the van four unlicensed .45 caliber pistols loaded with live ammunition and two hand grenades, reports said.
Police immediately arrested the six men and brought them to the SPD headquarters for investigation, while charges of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives are being filed against them. Anthony Vargas
