American national killed in vehicular accident
AN AMERICAN national was killed late Tuesday afternoon following a collision between a pick-up delivery truck and a motorcycle in a remote village in Lapu-Lapu City, police reports said Wednesday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the victim as Ernest Williams, 25, American national, of Sitio Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
The reports said that Williams was driving his Kawasaki motorcycle when he slammed head-on with a Hyundai dropside porter pick-up truck at around 12:05 p.m. along the national road in Barangay Punta Engano in Lapu-Lapu City.
The strong impact of the collision threw the American off his motorcyle with his face hitting the truck’s windshield before his body dropped hard on the cemented road, the reports said.
The reports said Williams, who had just came from a nearby American training school, was rushed by witnesses to the Mactan Doctor’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead-on-arrival by attending physician.
The driver of the delivery truck, Rene Gargar Viajador, immediately surrendered to the police and are now under investigation at the Lapu-Lapu City police office. Anthony Vargas
