Kidnapped American national freed in Marawi City
MANILA, Philippines – an American national abducted by armed men in Cagayan de Oro four months ago was safely released by his kidnappers on Wednesday afternoon, April 13, after paying ‘board and lodging’ fees, police reports said on Thursday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame’s operations center said that Milton Taylor alias “Sam Taylor” was released by his captors at around 2 p.m. Wednesday at the boundary of Marawi City and Piagapu in Lanao del Sur,
The reports said, that Taylor, who has lived in the country for several years, was released by his captors through the efforts of the local, police officials and non-government organizations based in Lanao del Sur.
No ransom were paid for the Taylor’s kidnappers, who earlier sought the amount of P10 million for his release, but police sources said an unspecified amount were given to his captors as ‘board and lodging fee’ payment.
The reports said the freed American national was turned over by the police to the custody of Mayor Vicente Emano of Marawi City.
Taylor was abducted in Cagayan de Oro City last January 11 by gunmen after arriving from Manila. Anthony Vargas
