PNP looking at 3 angles in Pilar Pilapil’s case

CARJACKING, kidnapping and robbery – these are the three angles that police investigators are looking in the case of former beauty queen and veteran movie/tv actress Pilar Pilapil.

This came even as her  female companion identified as Rossel Rosalem remained missing after she was taken by suspects along with the Kia Sportages vehicle that the victims were using at the time of the incident.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and head of Special Investigation Group (SITG) Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao on Saturday, April 16, visited the veteran TV/movie actress at the Medical City where she is recuperating from several stab wounds.

The CIDG chief said that they have zero in on the real motive behind Pilapil’s case, but explained: (1) the victims’ vehicle has been taken so that means there is carjacking; (2) the actress’ companion was also taken by the suspects along with the car so they are likewise looking at kidnapping; and (3) properties were lost so they are also considering robbery.

Pilar, 60, was on board a gold Kia together with Rosalem at the Riverbanks in Marikina past 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, when two unidentified armed men forced themselves into the vehicle and commandeered the car with the victims in tow.

The actress, who was stabbed several times by the suspects, was later dumped for dead at a grassy lot along Pinagminahan Road, Piedra Blanca, Barangay San Luis, Antipolo City.

Weak and bloodied due to her multiple stabwounds, Pilapil struggled to seek help. A witness, Marlon Viray, said in a TV interview they heard a woman pleading for help, shouting “tulungan ninyo ako” (help me) then saw the actress whom they did not even recognize as Pilapil.

The actress was initially brought to the Antipolo District Hospital then eventually transferred to Medical City.

The car used by the victims was initially reported as that of Pilapil but police said a check with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) showed it is registered under name of a corporation, which they initially withheld.

Pagdilao said Pilapil gave them information, which he said they could not reveal yet as these are vital to the investigation. He added that Rosalem was an old acquaintance of Ms. Pilapil, who just arrived from Australia. Anthony Vargas
