PNP says Katrina Paula not yet off the hook
FORMER movie starlet Katrina Paula is not yet off the hook from other criminal cases where her boyfriend and carnap-gang leader Raymond Dominguez is involved with, a police official said Wednesday, April 6.
Paula, Angeline Samonte in real life, was recently cleared by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court of carnapping with murder charges in connection with the death of car-dealer Venson Evangelista last January.
PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr. said that their investigators are still gathering more evidence to boost the other cases that the police have filed against the former movie starlet.
“We plan to file a motion for reconsideration once we have gathered strong evidence linking her to the crimes that were committed by the Dominguez carnapping group,” Cruz told reporters in Camp Crame.
The Dominguez carnapping group was tagged by the police as the one behind the abduction and murder of Evangelista and another car-dealer, Emerson Lozano, son of prominent lawyer Oliver Lozano.
Paula is still facing five counts of anti-fencing charges that were filed against her by the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s office last year.
The charges stemmed from the recovery of eight luxury vehicles, five of them are reportedly ‘stolen’ by the Dominguez group, from her condominium unit where the former movie starlet and her boyfriend is staying. Anthony Vargas
