10 dead, 2 missing as Bebeng whips Luzon
MANILA, Philippines – at least 10 persons were killed and two others were reported missing as tropical storm Bebeng batters eastern Luzon with strong winds and heavy rains on Monday, disaster reports said.
Latest reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said that four of the ten strom fatalities were Camarines Sur, three in Albay and one each from Catanduanes, Leyte and Northern Samar.
The NDRRMC reports said that two persons were missing from Camarines Sur and Albay, while most of the storm fatalities died from drowning and landslides due to heavy rains brought by Bebeng.
The reports identified the fatalities from the Bicol region as Plaribel Ruelan, 19; Princess Ruelan, 8-month old; Marcon Sanchez, 7; Ricsan Sayamora, 9; Aristep Sabido, 31; Arnulfo Pesito, 23, Lourdes Lantero, 58 and Adrian Clark, 16.
While the fatalities from the Eastern Visayas region were identified by the reports as Jerry Mijares, 38 and Luis Dingcol, 47.
Still reported missing were Agmeti Condat, 66, of Tiwi, Albay, and Rolandro Balandia Nabua of Camarines Sur, while the storm has displaced more than 111, 000 people from six provinces, the NDRMMC reports said.
Heavy rains drenched Metro Manila and triggered landslides in Batasan Hills, Quezon City and the NHA Bilibid Housing project in Muntinlupa City, the NDRRMC said.
While flashfloods destroyed one house in Alabang Riverside, Muntinlupa but there were no reported casualties.
