Artillery Foundation of the Philippines, INC (AFPI) Chess For a Cause Tournament
THE Artillery Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (AFPI) on its 74th year, an association of active and retired Artillery men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines headed by its LT GEN. Arthur Tabaquero Chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command, BGEN Pompeo Limbo, AFPI President and Inspector General of Philippine Army and Executive Director and Army regiment commander Col Pedro Biasbas will launch its first major tournament dubbed as “Chess For a Cause” for the benefit of scholarship program of its members and dependents and likewise for its other well meaning civic and humanitarian projects.
This will be held on July 2-3, 2011 at the Philippine Army Gymnasium Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila. The tournament is in cooperation with the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence President GM Jayson Gonzales and Sanctioned by National Chess federation of the Philippines.
The two-day event is divided into two categories the kiddies division 14 years old and under boys and girls and the Open Division where Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters can play. Active members of the branches of Armed Forces of the Philippines such as an Army, Navy, and Air force and Philippine National police both enlisted and officers can join this tournament.
