CIDG arrests father and sons for killing a tricycle driver
MANILA, Philippines – A 58-year old tricycle driver and his two sons were arrested by operating elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Sunday night in two separate operations in Novaliches, Quezon City for the murder of another tricycle driver three years ago.
CIDG director, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., said elements of CIDG’s Detection and Special Operations Division (DSOD) have arrested Teodoro Caguioa and his sons Albert alias Victor, 28 and Marlon, 23, 28, also a tricycle driver and Marlon, 23, a welder and resident of Damong Maliit St., Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Pagdilao said that the Caguioa father and sons were arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Wilfredo Nieves of Branch 84 of Regional Trial Court 3rd Judicial Region in Malolos City, Bulacan.
CIDG-DSOD chief, Senior Supt. Albert Ignatius Ferro said that the Caguioa were tagged as the primary suspects in the killing of Albert Suarez, alias Ambet, of Block 66, Ipo National Road 1, Brgy. Minuyan Proper, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
Ferro said that on May 18, 2008, at around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the suspects all armed with a pistol and bladed weapon shot and hacked to death the victim.
The incident also resulted to the injury of the sister of the victim, Maribeth, who sustained laceration in her forearms.
Ferro said that prior to the killing of Suarez, a brawl ensued between the victim and the lesbian daughter of Teodoro, identified as Princess. Teodoro and his sons get into the scene and conspired and mutually helped one another in shooting and hacking the victim that led to his death.
Recently, the surviving family of the victim, Mary Grace and Arlene Suarez, who also witnessed the killing of their brother, sought the help of the CIDG.
Ferro said that the arrests of the Caguioa father and sons manifested the commitment of the CIDG not only to bring suspects to the bar of justice but also of CIDG’s fair and equal treatment of complainants regardless of their social standing.
The suspects were brought to Malolos RTC for their immediate transfer to Malolos City jail.
