Cops to get mid-year bonus next week

THE 138,000 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will receive their mid-year bonus this coming week.

PNP Directorate for Comptrollership under Director Rey Lañada has made representations with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for the early release of a P1.45 billion appropriation fund for the 2011 mid-year bonus of the PNP personnel.

The PNP Chief, Director General Raul Bacalzo instructed t,he Directorate for Comptrollership and the Finance Service to expedite processing of the DBM appropriation and to release the mid-year bonus without delay as soon as funds are available.

Lañada said the mid-year bonus represents 50 percent of the mandatory 13th month pay and other cash benefits. It will be paid in the form of individual checks drawn from the PNP account with the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The other half of the 13th month pay is due in December.

Lañada also announced the implementation of the salary increase for PNP personnel under the Salary Standardization Law effective June 1, 2011 as ordered by President Aquino thru Executive Order No. 40.

The amended Salary Standardization Law provides a 50 percent pay hike spread over four years from 2008 thru 2012 for all national government personnel.

The lowest ranked policeman or Police Officer 1 (PO1) will receive a monthly basic salary of P13,492 plus allowances and other non-cash benefits. Anthony Vargas
