Hostage taker shot dead inside a bus in Pampanga
MANILA, Philippines – A hostage taker was killed and a policeman was injured on Monday afternoon following a hostage taking incident inside a passenger bus in Dau, Pampanga, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame said that the hostage taking incident took place at around 2:45 pm Monday on board a Five Star bus at the Dau Bus Terminal.
The reports said that the bus was enroute to Pangasinan and made a short stop at said terminal when the unidentified suspect suddenly took two children aged two and four years old hostage using a knife.
PO3 Eduardo Santiago of the Laguna Provincial Police Office, who was a passenger of the said bus, tried to intercede, but was instead stabbed by the suspect, the reports said.
The reports said Santiago, took the opportunity to retaliate and shot dead the hostage taker.
The policeman and the two children children suffered minor injuries and were brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
