PH woodpushers nakakopo ng 23 medals

NASUKBIT ng Filipino whiz kids ang 23 medals, kasama na ang eight gold medals sa katatapos na blitz competition ng 12th ASEAN + age-group chess championships na ginanap sa Indoor Telaga Kramat Stadium sa Tarakan, Indonesia, Miyerkoles ng gabi.

“We are proud of our RP age groupers performance in Tarakan,” sabi ni National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman/President Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr.
“Hopefully we could get more medals in the Standard and Rapid competition,” ani Pichay.

Ayon kay NCFP Executive Director/Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales, ang entire Philippine team ay nagwagi ng eight gold medals, seven silver at eight bronzes.

Ang five individual gold medals ay napanalunan nina Dennis Gutierrez III ng Bulacan (Open 8-under); Julius Gonzales ng Marikina City (Open 10-under); Daryl Unix Samantila ng Tonsuya, Malabon (Open 12-under); Mc Dominique Lagula ng Nueva Ecija (Open 16-under); at Mira Mirano ng Aklan (Girls 14-under).

Ang three team gold medals ay itinala naman nina Lagula, Patrick Dave Dulay ng Vigan, Ilocos Sur at Jeazzir Kline Surposa ng Davao City (Open 16-under); Mirano, Shaina Mae Mendoza ng Laguna at Ella Grace Moulic ng Davao City (Girls 14-under) at Janelle Mae Frayna ng Bicol, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia ng Pangasinan at Jean Karen Enriquez ng Marikina City (Girls 16-under).

Ang five individual silver medals naman ay nakamit nina Lennon Heart Salgados ng Cagayan de Oro City at  Richilieu Salcedo ng Cagayan de Oro City (Open 20-under); Irish Yngayo ng Davao City (Girls 8-under); Samantha Glo Revita ng Rosales, Pangasinan (Girls 12-under) at Frayna (Girls 16-under).

Ang two team silver medals naman ay naiuwi nina Gutierrez III, Ronald Canino ng Cagayan de Oro City at Khulene Lord Agtarap-dela Cruz ng Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (Boys 8-under); Salgados, Salcedo at Mari Joseph Turqueza ng Quezon City (Open 20-under).

Ang four individual bronze medals ay nasukbit din nina Turqueza (Open 20-under), Mendoza at Moulic (Girls 14-under) at Mejia (Girls 16-under).

Ang four team bronze medals courtesy naman nina Gonzales,Dennis Gutierrez Jr. ng Bulacan at Jeremy Solano ng Cebu (Open 10-under);Samantila, Haince Patrick de Leon ng Marikina City at Tristan Frech Ibaoc ng Cagayan de Oro City (Open 12-under); Jerad Docena ng Bohol,  Austin Jacob Literatus ng Davao City at Giovanni Mejia ng Pangasinan (Open 14-under) at  Rowelyn Acedo at Mary Israel Palero ng Davao City at Jedara Docena ng Bohol
(Girls 20-under).

Ang team leaders at coaches ng RP age group team na suportado nina Pichay at ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ay sina Gonzales, NM Wilfredo Neri at James Infiesto.
