Police nab NPA explosives expert in Quezon

POLICE operatives arrested an alleged explosives expert of the New People’s Army (NPA) in an operation in Quezon province Thursday morning.

Camp Crame’s operations center identified the suspect as Ryan Sison, who also uses the aliases of “Ryan Jula,” “Julane Sison” and “Jule.”

Reports said Sison, allegedly a member of a local NPA rebel front in the province, was arrested by joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Quezon Provincial Police Office at around 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Barangay Dalahican in Lucena City.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said Sison was arrested based on a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Executive Judge Hilarion Clapis Jr. of the Regional Trial Court of Compostela Valley.

Police recovered from Sison’s possession some components for improvised explosive device (IED).

CIDG investigators are now preparing to file additional charges against the suspect before the Department of Justice. Anthony Vargas
