3 dead as van rams tractor in Tarlac
MANILA, Philippines – Three persons, including an eight-year old girl, were killed and eight others were injured after a van rammed a truck along a highway in Tarlac province on Tuesday dawn, police reports said.
Initial reports reaching the High Patrol Group (HPG) office in Camp Crame said that the incident took place at around 3:20 am Tuesday along the Nam Kwang Rd., in Brgy. San Antonio, Gerona town in Tarlac.
HPG Director, Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina, quoting reports coming from HPG Region 3 office, identified the three fatalities from the said incident as Mike Bugnay, 54, Mila Lagasca, 60 and Lyka Mae del Mundo, 8.
The HPG chief said that base on investigation that a Toyota Hi-Ace van (NIO 679) driven Angel Tayan, was traveling along the southern portion of the highway when it bumped the rear left portion of a tractor driven by Joaquin Canan parked along the shoulder of the road.
Espina said that as a result of the collision, the passengers of the Hi-Ace van sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies and were rushed to the nearby Gerona and Jecson Hospital for treatment.
However, the reports said that three fatalities were pronounced dead on arrival at the said hospital by attending physicians. Police are now conducting an investigation on the said incident.
